ALAN WILDING

Alan Wilding, former Idaho Association of the Deaf president and current IAD secretary, holds a Master’s degree in Deaf Education with a specialization in Bilingual Education from Western Oregon University. He also holds a Bachelor’s in English and Education with a minor in Journalism from Gallaudet University.  Alan is a true bilingual with a strong whole-language and bilingual-bicultural background. His strengths lie in collective group work and learning, and he is a knowledgeable advocate of multiculturalism. In addition to teaching for 18 years, and to his work for the Idaho Association of the Deaf and Deaf Ambassadors of Idaho (youth) as co-director; Alan currently owns Signs of All Trades, an antique/consignment store in Gooding, Idaho. Alan is also the Deaf education advocate for Idaho under NAD’s educational coalition.  He has attended numerous camps since he was a teenager and brings his experience to DAI. He was honored with Idaho’s Deaf Leader Award in 2014.  He remains involved in the Idaho Association of the Deaf, Deaf Ambassadors of Idaho, the National Association of the Deaf, ASLTA, and Idaho-RID and has been the co-director of DAI since 2014.

DARCY SINSLEY

Darcy Sinsley is the current North Idaho Deaf Club secretary and IAD Vice President.  She has served in several different positions in both organizations. Since graduating high school, Darcy has earned an Associate of Science degree in general studies and several certifications.  She currently owns Treasured Memories Events, an event/wedding planning service. She is very involved with IAD, DAI, and NIDC. She currently is also the chairperson for LEAD-K in Idaho. In her spare time, she is a substitute teacher for IESDB in north Idaho. She was honored with Idaho's Deaf Leader Award in 2016.  Darcy earned the honor of Miss Deaf Idaho Teen and Miss Deaf Idaho, which earned her the Governor’s Award in 1990. She has been the co-director of DAI since 2014.

Married and has 3 children (2 biological and 1 son-in-law).
